Smile/Make Someone Happy

IF YOU JUST SMILE… even though your heart is aching, even though it’s breaking, you’ll see the sun come shining through for you! The enduring theme of “Smile,” made famous by Nat King Cole, is one none of us should take lightly. Even on our darkest days, I find that playing a slow song, or a fun, uplifting one can always make me feel much better. If laughter is the best medicine, then the ability to make someone smile is the best preventative care!

A similar sentiment is present in the song, “Make Someone Happy,” which has been recorded by numerous artists, including musical legends Perry Como, Jimmy Durante, Judy Garland, and Barbra Streisand. Originally introduced as a musical number in Do Re Mi, this tune has a lighthearted melody and uplifting beat. Audiences young and old have enjoyed this song for decades, which is one of the many reasons I selected it for my album.

My multitalented musical director, Tom Griep, arranged these two songs together to create a unique medley that flows effortlessly for my album, Yesterday Once More. That’s what’s truly special about the music I sing for you all – these medleys are original arrangements of some of the best songs of all time. You’ll recognize your favorite tunes, but will hear them in a new way you’ve never heard before. It’s sure to keep you on your toes!

Go ahead – take a listen. “Smile/Make Someone Happy” is available on on iTunes, Amazon, or CD Baby. And after you’ve tuned in, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to leave a comment on this blog post, follow me on Facebook, or send me a Tweet
