Maggy talks about how her album came about and the songs she chose. Today, she talks about her first track, “Nice ’n’ Easy” and the Alan and Marilyn Bergman lyrics she so loves so much, from her debut album, “Yesterday Once More” released in February. Frank Sinatra first recorded the original song on his Grammy nominated album in 1960.
Maggy: This brilliant song, universal for just about everyone in the world, says to take it slow if you want to make the relationship last.
While falling in love with my husband Jack, the song kept playing in my head! That we should take it ‘nice ’n easy.’ That ‘we were on the road to romance, yes, but that we should make the stops along the way.’
I believe courtships must evolve slowly just like the song so beautifully advises! “Nice ’n’ Easy" says to me, that if it is meant to be, things will fall into place. The lyrics, “Relax and don’t you worry, we’re gonna fall in love.” And that is exactly what happened to me! Listen to the lyrics, and you’ll hear me really feel the natural power of the song, and its ballad-like musicality. That famous line, “to rush would be a crime…” was so important to me during my own courtship, and I think for lovers everywhere.
One of the most exciting things in my life was to record my album in the same Capitol Records Studio A where Sinatra recorded — and where so many legends who followed him recorded those great American songs, including “Nice ’n’ Easy.” For lovers anywhere in the world, download my song and read the lyrics at the same time!
Lyrics by Alan and Marilyn Bergman
Let's take it nice and easy
It's gonna be so easy
For us to fall in love
Hey baby what’s your hurry
Relax and don’t you worry
Were gonna fall in love
Were on the road to romance - that’s safe to say
But let's make all the stops along the way
The problem now of course is
To simply hold your horses
To rush would be a crime
'Cause nice and easy does it every time
With Love, Maggy
