Dedicated to the special man in my life, Jack’s Medley is a soothing mix of all the greatest hits that express the way I feel for my hubby. The ninth track on my album, Yesterday Once More, is a soulful medley that includes the songs “The Look of love”, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” and “Goin’ Out of My Head.” The wonderful original arrangement by my musical director, Tom Griep, is so special and unique, which is why I dedicated this track to Jack, a man who is truly one of a kind.
“The Look of Love” is a legendary popular song that was composed by Burt Bacharach, with lyrics by Hal David. Originally performed by Dusty Springfield in 1967 for the film Casino Royale, this song is one of my personal favorites because of Springfield’s unique sound.
This romantic melody has been covered by many artists and because of its expressive lyrics and music, I included my rendition of the song in my debut album. The chorus of this song is so simple, yet it reminds me of how powerful love can truly be.
“Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” (by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio) was a gold record performed by Frankie Valli in 1967. I love the way that the slow rhythm picks up and delivers a dynamic hook that leaves me hooked!
I think that the lyrics appeal to me for the same reason as why I like “The Look of Love” so much; they’re short but hold so much depth because of Frank Valli’s amazing voice. This song works so perfectly in the middle of the medley because it seamlessly transitions to and from each piece.
The last song of Jack’s Medley is “Goin’ Out of My Head,” which was performed by Little Anthony and the Imperials in 1964. Written by Bobby Weinstein and Teddy Randazzo, this catchy single dominated the charts when it was released, and every performance was even more energetic than the last!
This song is special for me because it embodies exactly how it feels to be in love! This song still manages to move me every time I hear it on the radio or at home on my stereo.
