Musicals you can watch online

In some places of the country, things are opening up, but it's still best to stay at home to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. One of the favorite things I miss is getting dressed up to watch live theatre and musicals with my husband. Until then, I'll stick to watching amazing musicals that I can watch online.

This article is dedicated to all musical lovers out there. Here are my top picks that you can enjoy from the comfort of your home.

Hamilton on Disney+

While I absolutely enjoy a jazz musical more than anything, Hamilton was an exciting mix of other genres as well.

It beautifully depicts scenes by incorporating each and every flavor of pop.

This musical will take you on a walk down memory lane through two very different periods. The musical has received various nominations and awards for the amazing performances and songs.

An American in Paris on BroadwayHD

This musical is a lovely escape from the humdrum of your daily routine. The ballet is so exquisitely done that you would want to watch it again and again!

The musical is inspired by Vincente Minnelli's 1951 movie by the same name, An American In Paris. It is probably the most thrilling dance-oriented musical I have ever watched. Don't miss out!

Hello, Dolly! On Disney+

A quintessential romantic-comedy musical, it presents the story of Dolly Levi, who happens to be a matchmaker who travels to NYC to find the perfect match for the most eligible bachelor, Horace Vandergelder.

What follows is a laughter riot that makes it a must-watch!

Phantom of the Opera on BroadwayHD

This is, by far, the most well-crafted musical. I found the theme and music perfectly synced. Moreover, the perfect staging only added stars to the impeccably woven theme and music.

To sum up, this one is a sheer visual delight and a love-story that is emotionally stimulating! The story involves the beautiful Christine Daae, a soprano who becomes an obsession with a disfigured musical genius.

The sets are just fantastic, and the costumed sits superbly well with the movie's back drop.

Kiss Me, Kate on Amazon Prime

A musical comedy, Kiss Me, Kate, is considered as one of the most infectious backstage comedies. The star of this musical is its background score. The lyrics include some of the wittiest wordplays ever composed. I absolutely enjoyed how cleverly rhymes were included throughout the score!

Everything just adds up perfectly and makes it a fun watch with the family.

A Star is Born (1976) on Netflix

It's no secret that I adore Barbara Streisand, so no list would be complete without the 1976 rendition of A Star is Born. A musical romance revolves around Jackson, who, after having fallen in love with a struggling artist named Ally, encourages her to chase her dreams.

At the same time, he is shown to be dealing with his own alcoholism and personal demons. If you ask me, the movie could be a tad emotionally draining, but makes for a beautiful watch! It is so raw and full of passion that you will definitely feel compelled to finish it.
