I Concentrate on You

As a jazz singer in Los Angeles, singing a song like “I Concentrate on You” is absolutely essential. This notable jazz standard was written by COLE PORTER for the 1940 film, Broadway Melody of 1940. It’s been recorded by countless musicians over the years, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Perry Como, Judy Garland and Dianne Reeves, to name just a few.

I selected Cole Porter’s song, “I Concentrate on You,” for my album, Yesterday Once More, because of its passionate melody and heartfelt lyrics. Who could resist this sweet serenade?

On your smile so sweet, so tender,

When at first your kiss I decline.

On the light in your eyes when I surrender,

And once again our arms intertwine

Cole Porter has been a lifelong favorite of mine, and I even dedicated one of my shows at the Catalina Jazz Club in his honor. As many of you know already, Porter was one of the greatest American composers and songwriters of all time. Dozens of music artists have released entire albums of his songs! We owe this talented man so much for his many contributions to music. As you can imagine, he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he is also a member of the American Theater Hall of Fame.

Help keep beautiful, classic music alive for years to come. Please share your support by checking out my album on iTunes, Amazon, or CD Baby.

With Love, Maggy
