Maggy Simon Sings

Vocalist Maggy Simon Announces Debut Album, "Yesterday Once More"

LOS ANGELES – March 1, 2017  – Vocalist Maggy Simon returns to rich roots in her extraordinary debut album, “Yesterday Once More” (February, West Coast Management), recorded live at legendary Capitol Records.  Coming off her renowned performances at Hollywood’s Catalina Jazz Club, Simon’s album includes 14 iconic beloved songs in the genre of smooth jazz, pop, easy listening and show tunes that include “Nice ‘N Easy,” ‘Yesterday Once More” and a special rendition of “Le Jazz Hot!”

Simon’s album, available as a CD just in time for spring, can be ordered and streamed here on CD Baby, ITunes, Spotify, and Amazon.

Nostalgia and perennial love are universal themes that carry the entire compilation.

Simon recorded her new album with a six-piece band during a lively, two-day studio session at famed Capitol Records Studio A, where the world’s best selling music was and continues to be produced – and where famous artists recorded. An homage to Frank Sinatra in Simon’s opening track, “Nice ‘n’ Easy,” segues into her title track “Yesterday Once More” (The Carpenters), as she switches effortlessly in tempo and style.

The diminutive Simon, with her jaw-dropping sultry figure and smooth voice, transports the listener into another world -- not just for some, but for everyone.  Her songs remain in the listener’s mind long after the album ends in the tradition of Streisand, Diana Krall, Peggy Lee, Cole Porter, and the legendary songs of Alan and Marilyn Bergman. With over 60 thousand fans on Facebook and Twitter followers, Simon is popular around the world.

Jack Simon, Maggy’s husband who produced the album, is the distinguished entrepreneur, businessman and musician whose benevolence is recognized in medicine, academia and the Los Angeles cultural scene.  “Jack cheered me on through back-to-back recording days. I would not be where I am today without his love, support and guidance,” says Maggy, who married and fell in love with her prince Jack later in life. Maggy devotes a moving, romantic “Jack’s Medley” to her husband.

The dreamy album concludes with Simon’s rendition of “I Had a Ball” and “My Shining Hour.” For romantics around the world who celebrate the annual rite of spring, Valentine’s Day, or anytime – the album sings to those who know love can never grow old. Simon’s enduring medleys are perennial flowers, so needed for our turbulent times in the 21st century.

Renowned A-list studio musicians accompany Simon on the album, including music director and pianist Thomas Griep, bassist Bart Samolis, drummer M.B. Gordy, Bob McChesnie on trombone, Bob Odonnell on trumpet and Geoff Nudell on woodwinds.
